Q: When I try to create a new GLG Sync account or retrieve my sync key, nothing happens!
A: The email containing your sync key may have been wrongly identified as spam, so please check this folder in your email software first. If that is not the case, please check if an update for the Grocery List Generator app is available to you in the App Store. If so, please run the update and try again. Should none of this solve your issue, please contact us.
Q: How do I keep my recipes and groceries up to date using GLG Sync?
A: Create a free GLG Sync account. Once you have activated it within the GLG app on all the desired iOS devices, the app will keep everything in sync automatically. Syncing will occur after you edit items or recipes and after a resume or restart. Tap the refresh button on the GLG Sync tab to manually start syncing.
Q: How do I add recipe ingredients and other items to my grocery list?
A: On the Recipes tab, tap on the left-side of the screen to increase the number of recipe servings. To decrease the number of servings tap on the right-side of the screen. The same goes for the Items tab to add and remove items to and from your grocery list.
Q: My item doesn't show up on my grocery list.
A: Check your item properties to determine if you have marked the item as a stock item. When your selected recipe contains an ingredient marked “Stock item”, a question mark will appear next to this item on the Items tab. To confirm adding it to your grocery list just tap the question mark.
Q: I can’t select an item in my recipe.
A: Check your item properties and make sure you have marked the item as a recipe ingredient. Only items marked “Recipe ingredient” can be selected in your recipes.
Q: How do I order groceries to my preferred aisle sequence?
A: On the Aisles tab you can set your preferred order by dragging aisles up and down using the order symbol on the right-side of the screen. From the actions sheet choose “Move”.
Q: How can I set a default email address to send my grocery list to?
A: Go to your device settings screen and look for the GLG app settings. Fill in the default email address and email subject.
Q: Why can’t certain aisles be deleted from the aisle list?
A: Aisles that have one or more items assigned to them can’t be deleted. To delete an aisle you first have to disconnect all items assigned to that aisle. Alternatively you might want to consider just changing the aisle’s name.
Q: How can I easily merge all items from one aisle with items from another?
A: On the Aisles tab you can drag aisles up and down using the order symbol on the right-side of the screen. Drag the aisle that contains items you’d like to merge in a downward direction just below the target aisle (when dragging an aisle upward, drag it just above the target aisle). From the actions sheet choose “Merge” (twice). The dragged aisle will then automatically be deleted and all of its items are now stored under the target aisle.
Q: How can I share a recipe with a friend?
A: Go to the recipe and tap the Edit button. Use the Action button to share your recipe through email, Twitter or by copying the link. Other GLG app users can use the “Add to My GLG app” button below the published recipe to import your recipe.

Q: I can’t share a recipe or grocery list through Twitter.
A: Check if you have the official Twitter app installed on your Apple device. Other Twitter apps are not supported.
Q: I use multiple Twitter accounts, how can I control which account is being used to share a recipe or a grocery list?
A: Open the Accounts screen in the official Twitter app and make sure your preferred account is at the top of the list.
Q: Can I change the language settings?
A: Currently the following languages are available: English, French, and Dutch. The GLG app checks your device language setting to determine in which language the app will be installed. If the app is not available in your language it will automatically be installed in English. Changing your device language setting after installation will only effect the GLG app buttons and labels, not the data.
Q: Cute sound effects, but can I change the volume?
A: Use the volume buttons on the left-side of your Apple device to change the volume. To turn sound effects off go to your device settings screen and look for the GLG app settings. There you will find a switch to turn sound off.
Q: I can no longer add a recipe or an item in my Lite version.
A: The Lite version enables you to try the GLG app for free. You can add two recipes, five items and two aisles yourself. When you reach any of these limits, you can no longer add new data in that particular section. Are you happy using the app? Please visit the App Store and buy the full version for unlimited storage space.
Q: When both the Lite version as well as the paid version are installed on your device, there is a chance of unexpected behavior when adding a shared recipe or grocery list. In this unlikely case, we advise to follow these steps.
A: First off, determine whether you would like to save a copy of recipes or grocery items you have added in the Lite version. If so, share these recipe(s) as a recipe and/or these grocery items as a list using either email, Twitter or link. After you have done that, delete the Lite version from your iOS device. Turn off your device and restart it. Your shared recipe(s) or list can now be added to your paid version.
